Profile
Embroidery artist.
Influenced by her grandmother who was a “master weaver”, Shinonome spent her childhood getting familiar with silk threads and paintings.
After working in the apparel industry, she worked as a party planner, creating a unique view of the world through space production and musical activities. The Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011 led her to start her career as an artist in earnest to realize her vision. She continues to create works based on Japanese embroidery with out-of-the-box ideas.
The main material used for the canvas is a transparent textile called “eginu”.She uses this fabric as “mist” or “haze” to create “spatial embroidery” in which she poetically stitches and draws the transience in the story.
Her world of embroidery on any material is serene and tranquil and she creates slightly wet scenes where light and shadow intersect.
She will make her debut at World Art Dubai 2022, which will be held at the same time as the Dubai Expo (October 1, 2021 – March 31, 2022).
